I am driven by a desire to guide my patients toward optimal health and wellbeing through personalized, woman-focused care. With a twenty-year background in obstetrics and gynecology, I have shifted from delivering babies to partnering with women to address fertility, hormones, menopause and chronic disease through a functional lens. These objectives are challenging to attain within our traditional, problem-based insurance model of medicine. I am driven by a passion for preventive care and optimizing for a vibrant, healthy life. I combine cutting edge research with compassionate guidance to foster health and vitality at every stage. I am committed to reshaping healthcare, ensuring that every woman receives comprehensive and tailored support for her unique health journey.
I received my undergraduate degree in psychology from UT San Antonio. I went on to attend medical school at UNT Health Science Center in Fort Worth. I completed OBGYN residency at John Peter Smith Hospital where I served as chief resident. I joined the faculty of the Baylor Scott and White/TCU Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency in 2021 where I am fortunate to work with physicians in training.
On the path to certification through the Institute for Functional Medicine, I have completed extensive course work in hormones, cardiometabolic health, Gl function and inflammation, immunity and environmental exposures. I am a North American Menopause society certified menopause practitioner.
When not working, I have an ever-evolving yoga practice and love hiking, reading and travel. I am a recovering marathoner but still love the occasional run on a crisp fall day. As a wine lover I am a Level 2 sommelier through the Wine and Spirit Education Trust. I was born and raised in San Antonio and am a devoted Spurs fan. In my free moments I spend time with my husband, children, and grandchildren who are the great joys of my life.
I’m Sophie Purke, a redeemed, imperfect being driven by my calling. I’m a wife and mom to three lovely little girls; my family is my greatest joy. My nutrition journey was shaped by a decade-long battle with health issues during my adolescent years, where I discovered the life-saving and life-giving power of nutrition. Nutrition became my lifeline, restoring my health, vitality, and purpose. Today, I’m dedicated to using my experiences to help others, mainly specializing in pediatric and women’s health.
I believe my knowledge can provide hope and guidance to those facing similar challenges. With a bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University (Go Frogs!), a master’s in clinical nutrition and integrative health, and I’m currently pursuing a doctorate in clinical nutrition, I have learned that I don’t have all the answers, which led to the dream of Fort Worth Health Collective—a collaborative, multi-disciplinary, preventative healthcare approach. My practice prioritizes evidence-based, personalized, and empathetic nutrition plans tailored to individual needs. I create measurable goals for sustainable change, considering lifestyle, environment, and psychological factors. This integrative and functional approach ensures comprehensive, interdisciplinary care beyond conventional dietary advice. I’ve learned that nutrition isn’t just sustenance; it’s powerful medicine. Health is multifaceted, and I’m honored to be a small part of your journey to optimal well-being. Serving you is a blessing.

I was a competitive runner before I was a physical therapist. And at many points throughout that time, I was also a patient.
I started running track and cross country during high school and by the time I joined the college team, my successful running career had already gotten off track. Instead of setting personal records, I was dealing with frequent stress fractures. I was routinely told that the best way to protect my body was to stop running altogether. But that is not the life I want to live! This is when I decided to become a physical therapist. I wanted to be a physical therapist that would never give up on helping clients live the life they wanted to live.
During physical therapy school, I truly began to understand the full resilience of the human body, and I learned that with the right preparation, our bodies can adapt to all different kinds of demands.
Since then, I’m happy to report that I’ve gotten back to my passion of running. Instead of giving up, I took an alternate approach and I continue running — half marathons, full marathons, and now…I can help guide my clients to keep doing what they love, too!
